NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING FOR UMOONA COMMUNITY COUNCIL, COOBER PEDY
COMmunity ARCHITECTURE BY KHAB ARCHITECTS
In 2014 Khab were engaged by the Umoona Community Council (UCC) to design a new Administration building for the Council and Community. Khab collaborated with the UCC to develop the project briefing, and Adam and Kirsty spent time at the Umoona Community to consult with key Council members, the CEO, and Community members to further develop the brief for the project and to determine the siting options for the new building.
Khab then prepared a Siting Study with Siting options proposed, then a Concept presentation for the site selected by the UCC. Khab then developed the Concept with client consultation and managed the preparation of a cost estimate by a Cost Consultant. In response to the costing Khab carried out value management in consultation with the client, and the design developed to a point where it was ready for documentation to be prepared for submission to Coober Pedy District Council for Planning Approval.
In 2015 the CEO had a late reconsideration of the site for the building, however just as the project was set to restart on the new site the UCC went through a significant upheaval of leadership and the project was unfortunately aborted.
